Samsung Free U.S. Privacy Notice

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., along with our affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively, “Samsung”), respect your concerns about privacy. We created this Privacy Notice to make sure you understand how we collect and use your personal information in connection with Samsung Free. This Privacy Notice does not apply to information collected by other apps, websites, or services provided by Samsung.

The Samsung Privacy Policy for the U.S. at https://account.samsung.com/membership/terms/privacypolicy (“Samsung Privacy Policy”) also applies to your use of Samsung Free. Our Samsung Privacy Policy contains more information about how we use your data, and the choices available to you regarding our use of the information. It also includes information about how to contact us. Please read our Samsung Privacy Policy in addition to this Privacy Notice. In the event of a conflict between the Samsung Privacy Policy and this Privacy Notice, this Privacy Notice shall prevail.

Information We Obtain

Through Samsung Free, we may obtain information about you in various ways.

Information About Your Use of Samsung Free

We may obtain information about your use of our Samsung Free through software on your devices and by other means. We may obtain:

• Samsung account information, such as your Samsung account ID, and date of birth when you sign in to Samsung account to use Samsung Free or signed in to Samsung account on your device;
• Device information: We may obtain information through automated means about your Samsung Free-enabled devices, such as hardware information, including manufacturer, device type and model, country, CSC, language setting, software information, including OS version, MCC/MNC, IP address, device identifiers (such as IMEI and Universal Unique ID), and other unique identifiers, including Google Ad ID and app version you use to access Samsung Free;
• Location information: We may obtain location information, including, with your consent, your device’s precise geolocation;
• Service usage: Such as, service version, settings (such as language), usage information (time, duration, searches, and patterns, including what you click), and country information relating to your use of Samsung Free.
• Content information: We may collect information related to the content you view, listen to or play when you use the various tabs offered through Samsung Free. For example:

Watch tab: we may obtain viewing information, such as the networks, channels and programs viewed, including favorites, most recently viewed and watch list, as well as the amount of time spent viewing them. See “Use of Viewing Information” below.

Listen tab: information related to the content you listen to, such as the programs or podcasts you listen to, subscribe to, download, and most recently play, as well as the amount of time spent listening to them. See “Use of Listening Information” below.

Play tab: we may obtain information about how you use the Play tab, such as what you click or what games we recommend for you.

Read tab: information related to what news articles and categories of news articles you viewed or are interested in.

We also may collect other information about you, your devices and apps, and your use of Samsung Free in ways that we describe to you at the time of collection or otherwise with your consent. We may combine personal data collected from your use of other Samsung apps and services for the purposes below.

We may use and combine the information we collect about you from Samsung Free with data from other services, features or devices you use, such as when you log into your Samsung account in Samsung TV Plus on your mobile, web or Smart TV, your viewing information is automatically synced to show your favorites with continuity or provide the Continue Watching feature, and when you use the Game Launcher/Galaxy Store standalone application, you can get customized services based on the data that combines game usage records from Samsung Free, Game Launcher and Galaxy Store.

How We Use the Information We Obtain

We may use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• to identify and authenticate you so you may use Samsung Free;
• to provide you with the features offered by Samsung Free;
• to improve and customize your experience with Samsung Free such as delivering content and responses tailored to you and the way you interact with Samsung Free;.
• to respond to your requests, inquiries, and instructions made through Samsung Free;
• to allow you to interact with and use participating Samsung and third-party apps and services;
• to operate, evaluate and improve Samsung Free and our business (including developing new products and services, enhancing and improving our products and services, managing our communications, analyzing our products, services, and customer base, conducting market research, performing data analytics, and performing accounting, auditing, and other internal functions);
• for advertising, such as providing customized advertisements, sponsored content and sending you promotional communications. Customized advertisements are provided through the Samsung Ads service. • with your separate consent, for sending you promotional communications (such as new content in the tabs or new features of Samsung Free) via push notifications;
• to protect against, identify, and prevent fraud and other criminal activity, claims and other liabilities; and
• to comply with and enforce applicable legal requirements, relevant industry standards and our policies.

Samsung Free may provide the ability to connect to or show other websites, apps, services, and other features, such as showing content you like or use from Samsung or third-party services. For example, when you use each tab, content providers may provide you with content to view, listen to, or play. Third-party websites, apps, services, and features may operate independently from us and may have their own privacy notices or policies. Review them to ensure that you understand how they process your information. To the extent that any other linked or shown website, app, service, or other feature is not owned or controlled by us, we are not responsible for its content, use, or privacy practices.

Use of Viewing Information

We may obtain and use your viewing information to provide you with Samsung Free. For example, we may obtain information such as what channel you select to provide you the viewing content for that channel. Some features available in Samsung Free may require your viewing information, such as saving channels to favorites and to stop and continue watching a certain program. Based on what you view, we may also provide recommendations on what you may like or what to view next.

Your viewing information also may be used to evaluate and improve Samsung Free so that may we analyze and fix errors, or see the types of content users enjoy, to improve the type of content offered through Samsung Free.

With your separate consent, your viewing information also may be used to provide interest-based advertisements, as described above.

Use of Listening Information

We may obtain and use your listening information to provide you with various Listen tab features. For example, we may obtain information such as what podcasts or programs you listen to, as described above, so we can provide you with the content for that podcast or program. Some features available in the Listen tab may require your listening information, such as subscribing to podcasts or programs and to stop and continue playing a certain podcast or program. Based on what you listen to, we may also provide recommendations on what you may like or what to listen to next.

Your listening information also may be used to evaluate and improve Samsung Free so that may we analyze and fix errors, or see the types of content users enjoy, to improve the type of content offered through Samsung Free.

With your separate consent, your listening information also may be used to provide interest-based advertisements, as described above.

Information Sharing

As stated above, this Privacy Notice supplements the Samsung Privacy Policy (available at https://account.samsung.com/membership/terms/privacypolicy), which describes our information sharing practices.

We will update this Privacy Notice to let you know if we change how we collect and process your information in Samsung Free, if we’re required by law. The date when the document was last updated is shown at the top of this Privacy Notice.
